New Parts for the bike make it and me happier on the road
So I have been playing a bit with my CB750K... I got a new lens cover for the right front turn signal (replacing the aged faded one). I also have been busy making a few other mods which I am really happy about. First, I replaced the rear tire with a much fatter one (which is also newer and more rounded, the old was rather boxy). Making that replacement ended up being a lot more work than I was originially expecting, as the rear drum brake has a securing rod which runs from the drum to the swing arm, and was rather close to the old tire, when I put the new one on, it was rubbing on the tire. Here's a picture of what I am talking about:
Okay, wow, so now that I have comepletely embarassed myself with my drawing skills... where was I? Oh yeah, so I welded a new mount point further back on the swing arm to put the rod. Pulling it all apart and putting it back together took a good while, but I was able to get it eventually. Here's a shot of the new tire:
I also put solid rims on the bike, front and back. These replacing the old spoked ones. I really like the new look:
I also bought a "Full Sized" cover for my bike, which fixs just about perfectly.
I replaced the front tired the other day, and just took it for a test ride this evening to find out that the speedo isn't working now. I think the gear must be shot in the front tire, so I am going to have to pull that off and play with it some more. I am also going to have to replace a rear turn signal which I busted when working on the bike a couple weeks ago. It's a work in progress, but whats the fun in having everything done? There isn't anything to look forward to, becides things rusting and having to do mantanance!
